Add Orb to your Wordpress site

Follow these simple steps to add your Orb chat widget to a WordPress website.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Copy your Orb widget code

From your Chatbeam dashboard, copy your unique embed code from the Agent → Chat Widget section.

Step 2: Add the code to your WordPress site

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Go to Appearance → Theme Editor (or Theme File Editor in newer versions)
  3. Select your active theme
  4. Look for the Theme Footer (footer.php) file in the list of theme files on the right
  5. Locate the closing </body> tag in the file
  6. Paste your Orb widget code just before this closing tag
  7. Click Update File to save your changes

Alternative: If you prefer not to edit theme files directly, you can use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers" or "Head, Footer and Post Injections" to add your code.

Using a Plugin (Recommended)

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New
  2. Search for "Insert Headers and Footers"
  3. Install and activate the plugin
  4. Go to Settings → Insert Headers and Footers
  5. Paste your Orb widget code in the Footer section
  6. Click Save

Verifying Installation

Visit your WordPress site in a new browser tab. You should see the Orb chat bubble appear in the corner of your website.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure your widget is set to "active" in your Chatbeam dashboard
  • Try clearing your browser cache and reloading the page
  • Some WordPress caching plugins may delay updates - consider purging your cache
  • If using a child theme, make sure you're editing the correct theme files
